Mrs. Kalayaan Filipino-American 2012

Joy Aligarbes is the Mrs. Kalayaan Filipino-American and is the first ever winner of that title in the Mrs. Kalayaan contest introduced this year into the Philippine Independence celebrations in New York City, now on its 23rd year. The annual commemoration, planned, organized and presented every year by the Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc. (PIDCI), this year marking the 10th anniversary of its founding.

Joy is a Registered Nurse and is the Head Nurse in Women's Health Services at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, New York. She has two children: Arian and Matthew, and is blessed with two grandchildren, Caleb and Lucas. Joy was born in Iloilo City, Philippines.
